Woodbury Women's Group Donates to Home Nursing Agency's Stork Store
WOODBURY -The Women's Group of the Faith United Methodist Church in Woodbury has adopted the Home Nursing Agency's Stork Store as one of its major projects. The Stork Store is full of necessities and niceties for expectant mothers and their newborn babies. By keeping appointments for prenatal and postnatal check-ups, mothers earn points that are redeemable for items in the store. The Stork Store is located at the Home Nursing Agency's WIC (Women Infants and Children) Program Office at 206 West Plank Road, Altoona. The WIC Program provides nutrition supplements and education to pregnant and postpartum women and children to age five.
According to WIC's Program Director Diana Wallace in Blair County, the project has proven to be a great 'reward system' and expectant mothers have responded very well to it. “They truly look forward to redeeming their points and it's been a success due to groups such as this women's club of 25 ladies that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the store has plenty of diverse merchandise,” said Wallace. “It's so heartwarming to see how dedicated they've become since they started donating to us in March. We're so grateful that they've adopted Home Nursing Agency's WIC Program us as one of their major 'year around' causes.”
Club member, Willa Shaffer of Curryville, said the church keeps a bassinet available for parishioners to drop off items such as bottles, towels, receiving blankets, diapers, powders, clothing and rattles. “As soon as we heard about the program, we all thought it was a good idea and a worthy cause because it helps local families and provides a great incentive for new mothers,” said Shaffer.
