LOCAL HEALTHCARE COMPANIES RENEW PARTNERSHIP
Two Home Health Industry Leaders That Call Altoona “Home” Stay True To One Another

MALVERN, Pa., March 11, 2003 - It's nice to have a customer for almost 30 years. In fact, in today's competitive business world, it's a major accomplishment - an accomplishment being celebrated by Malvern, Pa.-based Siemens Medical Solutions and Central Pennsylvania's Home Nursing Agency. Both companies announced a renewal of their partnership at a contract signing ceremony held recently at Siemens Home Health Solutions office in Altoona.

“We believe in the leadership of Siemens and the commitment Siemens employees have shown to developing our business,” said Bob Packer, President and CEO, Home Nursing Agency. “Although a great deal of change has transpired since we first began working together, today this relationship can be leveraged in a way that benefits home care providers every where, ultimately benefiting our loved ones who receive healthcare services in the home. We're excited to continue working with Siemens to customize products that deal with the diversity and dynamics of our industry and our organization, while improving home healthcare delivery and patient outcomes through the technological advancements Siemens Medical Solutions is known for.”

To truly appreciate the significance of this partnership moving forward is to first take a look back. When Home Nursing Agency began working with Siemens Home Health Solutions, it was 1974, and Siemens was known in Altoona as Delta Computer Systems, Inc., a small company that automated payroll and accounting functions for area businesses. Delta had just expanded its capabilities to provide services to the home health industry, and Home Nursing Agency was Delta's very first customer.

Since then, both organizations have matured into industry leaders. Home Nursing Agency now employees more than 700 area residents and serves approximately 15,000 individuals through in-home care, mental health services and community-based programs. And after two acquisitions, the local baby business that Delta once was is now a part of the giant global footprint of Siemens Medical Solutions.

Through the course of normal business operations at Home Nursing, the agency recently considered moving to another information system and researched other potential vendor partners. But, in the end, it was the same qualities that brought the two companies together nearly 30 years ago that kept them together today - a shared vision and a belief in the leadership and employees of a company committed to innovation and customer satisfaction.

“It's remarkable to have two leading organizations in the home care market in the same home town,” noted Keith Crownover, Director, Siemens Home Health Solutions. “We are so pleased to be able to continue our work with Home Nursing Agency through this new agreement.”

The agreement calls for Siemens to deploy its latest financial software to Home Nursing Agency's field- and site-based professionals in eight counties. Siemens NOVIUS® Home Care is designed to improve workflow in the home healthcare environment, help Home Nursing comply with regulatory and accrediting standards, and provide management with critical data needed for reports and performance improvement analysis.
