Home Nursing Agency Recognizes Employees, Celebrates Best Place to Work Rankings
Home Nursing Agency's Employee Recognition Brunch, which was recently held at the Blair County Convention Center, also commemorated the agency's ranking as a Best Place to Work in Pennsylvania and as one of Modern Healthcare's Best Places to Work in healthcare in the nation. Close to 600 employees, volunteers, and retirees attended and nearly 200 employees were presented awards for perfect attendance, years of service, and for participation in the agency's health and wellness initiative.
The following employees garnered special recognition.
The Commitment to Community Award was presented to Altoona resident Bill Dunn, Home Nursing Agency's Nutrition Coordinator for Behavioral Health Services. Working with unmatched compassion and understanding, Bill Dunn has never missed a day of work during 10-years with the Agency. His colleagues wrote, "We have watched his passion for our services turn to advocacy at the county, state and federal levels. His leadership roles have garnered results both financially and through the enhancement of existing behavioral health services. Bill is truly dedicated to advancing support and resources for individuals at Home Nursing Agency who are coping with behavioral health issues." The award is presented annually to the employee most exemplifying the ideals and values of Home Nursing Agency.
The Extra Effort Award was presented to Altoona resident Wendy Pfahler, Department Assistant for Home Nursing Agency's Business Office/Accounts Receivable. "Wendy has a pleasant personality, a willingness to go beyond the call of duty and a relentless pursuit of finding the correct answer. She's been dubbed as a first-rate problem solver. Colleagues wrote that her willingness to help is one of her greatest assets, and she has garnered our respect for placing 'Extra Effort' into everything she does."
A recipient of the Hand and Hearts Award was Dona Fitzgerald, Personal Care Aide II for Home Nursing Agency Private Duty in Blair County. Dona, who resides in Duncansville, represents Home Nursing Agency with professionalism and compassion. Enhancing the quality of life for her clients is a top priority. Her staff wrote, "Dona's established herself as genuine and hard-working. It's not unusual for clients to call us and request Dona 'only'."
The Hands and Hearts Award was also presented to Theresa Weyant, Program Instructor at Home Nursing Agency Adult Center for Exceptional Learning (ACEL). An East Freedom resident, Theresa exhibits a strong commitment to ensure ACEL members have the best possible day whether it's at center, or at a community-bases activity, according to her co-workers. "She also provides excellent in-home support to ACEL families and works very hard at helping members achieve their hopes and dreams."
Orbisonia resident, Marsha Doyle, received the Spirit Award. She serves as the agency's patient care supervisor in Huntingdon County and was recognized as an employee who demonstrates characteristics such as remaining non-judgmental, reflecting genuine care, exhibiting abundant energy and humor. An Agency employee of nearly 20 years, Marsha has been credited for being diplomatic, soft-spoken and promoting a team approach. A poem penned on her honor read, "...You are like an angel sent straight from Heaven! Going above and beyond no matter what and always listening. Your doors never shut...When it comes to being an amazing individual - You are Number One - Marsha Doyle!
