Nat'l Homecare Benchmarking Firm Identifies Home Nursing Agency as the winner of a 2006 OCS Vision Award

Home Nursing Agency of Central Pennsylvania has been selected as a 2006 recipient of the Outcome Systems Concept Vision Award for strides and creativity in developing new ways to improve overall patient care. The OCS Vision Awards honor and recognize the exceptional efforts of homecare, hospice, and private duty providers across the country actively engaged in strategic initiatives to improve quality of care and organizational performance.

Home Nursing Agency, a provider of in-home and community health services, uses OCS benchmarking services that provide critical insight into improving quality of care for patients and to enhance the effectiveness of the organization. This year, OCS received applications representing over 185 agencies.

"Each year it becomes far more challenging to choose the Vision Award winners," said Amanda Twiss, OCS President. "The quality of this year's entries, representing hundreds of agencies, shows how creative our clients are in developing new ways of using the insight their OCS data provides to achieve success. In the end, it is all about improving overall patient care and we are pleased to recognize the 2006 Vision Award winners as the best of the best."

With over 1,500 clients spanning all 50 states, OCS maintains the nation's largest proprietary home care, hospice and private duty benchmark databases comprised of patient-level data across all business components: clinical, financial, operational, visit utilization and patient satisfaction. OCS uses this information to offer the providers, consultants, investors and product companies with relevant research and industry education, as well as business intelligence products and services.

"This award affirms that our vision, under the direction of our Agency's President/CEO Bob Packer, is clear and true in producing the best outcomes for the patients and families we care for throughout the community. It also validates that our emphasis on quality and performance improvement initiatives are aligned with the 'Pay per Performance' era to be introduced in the next two years by CMS," said Kim Kranz, Home Nursing Agency's Vice President of In-Home Operations.

According to Home Nursing Agency's Vice-President of Quality/Customer Service, Celeste Twardon, the Agency's direction has been validated, but there is still work to be done. "We realize that we need to continue striving to assure quality and accountability of care at all levels in our agency. It will take a team approach to perpetuate successful patient outcomes and to remain the premier provider of in-home and community-based care," Twardon said.

Kranz, along with Celeste Twardon, Home Nursing Agency's Vice President of Quality and Customer Service, will be accepting the award on behalf of Home Nursing Agency in Seattle, WA on September 17 at the Second Annual OCS Information Strategies Summit.
