AIDS CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL WALK HELD BY HOME NURSING AGENCY

The volunteers, clients and staff of Home Nursing Agency's AIDS Intervention Project (AIP) presented an International Candlelight Memorial Service and Walk on Sunday May, 21, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 806 13th Street, Altoona from 6-8 p.m. The one mile Awareness Walk began at 6 p.m. from St. Luke's and the candlelight memorial service followed at 7:00.

The service of remembrance was multi-denominational and was observed worldwide to commemorate those who have passed away as a result of AIDS/HIV as well as to show support for those living with this serious epidemic. Fellowship and refreshments followed the candlelight service.

Presently, AIP cares for 70 clients from Bedford, Blair, Fulton, and Huntingdon Counties, who are HIV positive. AIP assists clients with medical care and housing as well as supportive and educational services. The project is Pennsylvania's oldest AIDS service provider and refuge for anyone afflicted with the AIDS/HIV virus.

AIP provides community-based and confidential services designed to assist those affected with HIV/AIDS to live with courage and dignity.
