 Home Nursing Hospice Offers Volunteer Training Compassion lies at the core of Home Nursing Agency's Hospice Program and specially trained volunteers are at the heart of hospice. The Agency's hospice volunteer training classes will be offered in October. Volunteers are an integral part of Home Nursing Agency's Hospice team of caring professionals who provide support, relief, and companionship for patients experiencing a life-limiting illness so that they may live as pain-free as possible in the comforts of home. Last year alone, Home Nursing Agency Hospice Volunteers gave over 5,600 hours of service to patients and their families throughout Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon, Cambria and Franklin Counties. Through the training classes, volunteers are educated on the hospice philosophy of care, communication skills, cultural diversity, understanding family dynamics, stress management and complimentary intervention such as music, aroma, life review and guided imagery. Classes prepare volunteers to provide in home care, gift-making, bereavement and office support. f hospice patients and caregivers.
