Local Residents Complete Home Nursing Agency Hospice Training
November marks National Homecare and Hospice Month. At Home Nursing Agency, compassion lies at the core of homecare and hospice services, and specially trained volunteers are the 'Heart of Home Nursing Agency Hospice'. Volunteers from across the region recently completed 24 hours of hospice volunteer training through Home Nursing Agency.
The following individuals will serve patients and families enrolled in Home Nursing Agency Hospice Program: Blair County - Amy Stever, Brenda Boyle, Richard Rooney, Jeanmarie Rooney, Sharon Stauffer, June Becker, and George Riley; Cambria County - Renee Burns and Jennie Sigmon; Bedford County - Beverly Swope and Beverly Toke; Huntingdon County - Valerie Cassot.
Over 70 volunteers join Home Nursing Agency's Hospice team of caring professionals who provide around-the-clock support, relief, and companionship for patients experiencing a life-limiting illness so that they may live as pain-free as possible in the comforts of home - surrounded by family and loved ones.
Last year alone, Home Nursing Agency Hospice Volunteers gave over 5,600 hours of service to patients and their families throughout Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon, Cambria and Franklin Counties.
Through the training classes, volunteers are educated on the hospice philosophy of care, communication skills, cultural diversity, understanding family dynamics, stress management, terminal illness, pain control, and bereavement support. Classes prepare volunteers to provide various services and to meet the individual needs of hospice patients and caregivers.
