11/11/16 Earlier this week, Home Nursing Agency staff and volunteers hosted a surprise celebration at the Cambria County Healing Patch in recognition of Regis Schall, Army veteran and long-time volunteer at the Healing Patch for grieving children.

“Regis was one of our first volunteers trained to serve at the Healing Patch," explains Kathy Baker, Vice President of Hospice & Palliative Care. We were delighted to recognize his 10th anniversary of volunteer service helping our grieving children and families and also to thank him for his service to our country!"

Regis was one of the people to go through the program's initial volunteer training a decade ago and has volunteered as a Food Server at the Healing Patch since then.

"Regis is always greeting everyone with a friendly and upbeat smile and a hello," shares Melody Ray, Volunteer Coordinator/Grief Specialist. "He helps to create a warm and welcoming environment for the children and families who recently lost loved ones to death and are attending the family support group sessions at the center. Regis brings a lot of joy to the program. Regis is also an Army Veteran, who proudly comes to each session wearing his Army hat with a few poppy flowers sticking out."

Mr. Ray Lenz, a fellow veteran and member of the local Honor Guard, presented Regis with his military pin and certificate and also provided him a volunteer pin recognizing his role as a Healing Patch volunteer. The surprise celebration was complete with the presence of Regis' family and fellow Healing Patch volunteers.

Thank you, Regis, for your selfless service to our country and to the grieving children and families in our community!
