Patient Choice 2004

I just want to tell the world about Home Nursing Agency Nurse, Lou Ann Clark. I may not be able to explain everything about my condition, but I can explain Home Nursing Agency and the type of care I have received. It is quite simple. Lou Ann has helped me so I can help myself, better than I ever thought possible.

From a 5:30 a.m. 'regular' at the Summit Athletic Club almost two years ago to the present, my whole lifestyle was gone topsy-turvy, but the one true constant in my life besides my beloved family has been Lou Ann Clark from Home Nursing Agency. I don't know what I would do without her and the caring, compassionate people she has brought into my life. I can't believe where I am today.

Lou Ann's observations can't be beat. She anticipates my needs and has been the director of all the great care I've been receiving. She puts a plan into action like no one else I've ever met from making sure I have what I need to be comfortable to making certain I have regular physical therapy and transportation to all my doctor's appointments. Lou Ann has never let me down one minute and she has been available everyday including Sundays and even when she's not on duty. If something isn't right with me, she's detects it right away and knows exactly what to do.

My perception of Lou Ann and her caring mission changed dramatically one morning last summer when she witnessed me in an 'act of independence'. One act that I thought would garner me praise, but instead a very firm reprimand - one I'll never forget. Without permission, I was walking down the street behind my home with my walker and feeling quite proud of my success because I'd fallen before on several occasions along this same route. Then I saw Lou Ann's little red car pulled up beside my house and she was waiting patiently until I reached her. Not a second passed until she let me have it! It was at that moment that I knew Lou Ann truly and without doubt thought of me as more than just another home care patient on her daily roster.

As a father of five children, I know a little about 'tough love', but for the first time I was on the receiving end. At first, I thought she'd understand my desire for independence, especially since I had walked to work for 40 years. I was waiting for her to express praise at my effort. Looking back, I realize all along Lou Ann has, in fact, understood. Her only goal has been to get me back on my feet safely. My level of respect for Lou Ann deepened that summer morning. God had sent me an angel.

Sincerely,
Tom Blackburn, Home Nursing Agency Hospice Patient
